Andrea Martinez (Amarti) is a British-Colombian artist based in York, UK. Originally trained as an architect, she holds a Master's degree in Architecture in Regeneration from Oxford Brookes University. She later completed short courses in Interior Design at Chelsea College of Arts and Painting at The Heatherley School of Fine Art in London. This multidisciplinary background continues to shape her artistic practice, combining an architectural understanding of composition and space with an experimental approach to materials and process.
Working primarily with coloured sand and plasticine, Andrea develops original techniques that place texture and colour at the heart of the creative process. Every artwork begins as a handcrafted original before being professionally digitised and reinterpreted into new artworks and collections. By creating a dialogue between the handcrafted and the digital, Andrea explores how the human touch can be preserved and celebrated within an increasingly digital world. |
